Also, depending upon how far away the move is.  The high cost of moving vans, gasoline, boxes etc.  In many cases it is cheaper to sell most all and buy slightly used when you arrive at the new town.  Unless you are very attached to your sofas, sell and buy again. Go to a consignment store that has good quality furniture that is lightly used. 

Live as a roommate for a while in the new city to off set some of the high costs of relocating.   Or rent what you want but take in a roommate.

Who, besides a bank, lends money? 

Finance companies?  They charge even more interest.

Credit union?  Could be a good bet, except they can only lend in their areas, if you are moving they may not help you.

Get a credit card with 0 interest for 6 months.</description>
