How do companies make you repay a relocation package?
John asked:
I relocated to another state with my current employer under the terms that i would be there for 12 months. unfortunately, i will not be able to see the last 2 months through due to personal / family reasons. i was curious how companies have employees repay the package back. also how would one go about trying to negotiate a pro-rated amount or repayment plan?

Personally, I don’t have the money to repay it back immediately in one giant sum. also i never signed a repayment agreement but i did sign an offer letter that stated how much i will be making annually and that the company would be offering me a relocation package to assist with my move. The company policy just states that i will need to pay it back if I leave volunatrily before my year is up, but has no other details.
any tips would be helpful.
thank you so much
